Do-It-Yourselfers and independent music as an alternative to
mainstream radio and television. To encourage inventive and
innovative music. To improve local music by providing
regular, well planned and inexpensive ways for musicians and
music lovers to come together. To facilitate clear
communication between bands, fans, business and community
members regarding local music. |

Who We Are |

Blackbird Music was formed in 2000, by longtime
friends Travis, Joe, Brian and Howard. From experiences
with putting on their own shows with their band, The American
Cheese Band, the boys had learned its hard to get anyone to
show up to a show in this town. Relying on the teamwork,
resourcefulness and leadership they had learned while in Boy
Scouts together, the four quickly started putting on shows in
the area that drew the attention of the local press and bands
from all over the nation. In that time, their staple
gig, the Livery Theatre, has become known as the best place to
see all ages music in the county and their website, VenturaMusicScene.com is widely regarded as the complete
source for information about live music in Ventura. In 2003,
they began in earnest to start a record label with the cream
of the crop of Ventura's musical elite. Long term plans
involve opening their very own live music venue and recording
studio.
